Postdoctoral Fellow

The laboratory of Dr. Allison Bond in the Department of Neuroscience at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team. The Postdoctoral Fellow will lead independent projects that focus on investigating neural stem cell regulation and function in the hippocampus.

The Bond Lab is focused on understanding how interactions between neural stem cells and the surrounding niche environment influence the capacity for neural plasticity across the lifespan. The lab uses single-cell omics, lineage tracing, viral and CRISPR genetic manipulations, and time-lapse imaging to study neural stem cells in the mammalian hippocampus. The goal of the lab’s research is to identify therapeutic interventions that promote and preserve the brain’s endogenous regenerative capacity. To learn more, please visit www.thebondlab.com.

We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, self-driven, curious, collegiate, hardworking, and has excellent communication skills to join our diverse team. The qualified candidate should have a recent Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in neuroscience or a relevant biomedical field. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in single-cell RNA-sequencing, quantitative analysis of single-cell omic data and flow cytometry.

 Responsibilities:

  • Lead an independent project investigating interactions between neural stem cells and the surrounding niche environment during development

  • Perform lab techniques including, but not limited to, immunostaining, confocal microscopy, tissue dissection for flow cytometry/Western blotting/qRT-PCR, mouse colony maintenance and genotyping for in vivo experiments, stereotaxic mouse surgery, and single-cell RNA-sequencing

  • Be a team player and develop mentorship skills by training junior lab members

  • Contribute to writing animal protocols, scientific publications, and grant applications

  • Participate in lab meetings, journal clubs, and other seminars and work-in-progress meetings

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you can expect Dr. Bond to have a sincere interest in your research and career development. She will support your training in new methodologies, scientific writing and communication, and mentorship skills development. You will join the vibrant neuroscience and stem cell communities at Mount Sinai and will have the amazing city of New York at your fingertips. We will also provide a competitive salary, health benefits and guaranteed subsidized postdoctoral housing.
